Fuji and Hakone tour with bullet-train return includes the cruise and ropeway tickets. The TAIHOU shared sightseeing tour includes only the one-way ropeway fare; the pirate ship is an extra purchase.

The right comparison therefore starts with the complete day you want. If you intend to buy the boat trip anyway, add that cost to the shared-tour total. Then consider whether the included train return on the H.I.S. product has value for you.

Compare the reservation, not just the headline

For the Clover Travel alternative, the cruise is also excluded despite prominent ship imagery and a cruise-led title. Select it for its departure, language and route fit, rather than assuming that wording means a ticket is bundled.

Know which scenery the route reaches

The lake crossing gives you a view back toward wooded slopes and the shoreline. The ropeway brings the volcanic landscape into the foreground. The official Hakone Ropeway description distinguishes the valley-facing section from the lake and Fuji-facing views. Your tour’s included segment determines which part you ride; do not assume every package covers the entire line in both directions.

Fuji views depend on clear conditions. A ship, lake and mountain shown together in a photograph describe a possible view, not a promised one. Pick this combination because you enjoy the two rides and changing landscapes as well as the chance of seeing the mountain.

What happens when a ride closes?

The ropeway operator states that weather and maintenance can suspend service. Each tour provider has its own arrangements for closures and itinerary changes. TAIHOU’s listing asks customers to email about a refund if the ropeway is closed. Check the conditions of the exact package you select instead of applying one operator’s policy to every tour.

Allow for queues too. A tour ticket is not evidence of priority boarding: the ropeway’s own information says group reservations do not provide it. Keep the time available at stops in perspective on a full-day regional route.

A package for the rides, or a flexible day?

Choose H.I.S. when both tickets and the train return are part of the appeal. Choose TAIHOU when you prefer its shrine-and-Fuji-lakes route and want the option to skip the boat. For control over stop selection, private Hakone tours offer a different format, with ride tickets usually requiring separate budgeting.
